PERFECTION IS POSSIBLELast
night our friend Rev.
Keith
Hershey brought a wonderful, life-changing message to our church.
I'll share a summary. He shared
scriptures stating that "God is looking for perfect people, and perfect
is possible." Jesus prayed that the Father would make us perfect (John
17:23). Bro. Keith then pointed out that the definition for the word
translated "perfect" in the Bible means "spiritually mature." We need to
"grow up so God can show up." After all, "perfection is a process." In
fact, it's a life-long process. How do we become perfect? Practice makes
perfect. (Even, as some say, perfect practice makes perfect.)
What does that mean? Simply put, we must be doers of the Word.
Then we will be in the process toward perfection or spiritual maturity.
Bro. Keith pointed out four ways you can
tell how far along you are toward perfection. How do you handle:
- pressure
- possessions
- people
- pain

JUDE You don't hear much
about the book of Jude. It's very short--only 25 verses--but full of
wisdom. My Bible puts this heading "A Call to Persevere" above these
verses:
17But,
dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ
foretold. 18They said to you, "In the
last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly
desires." 19These are the men who
divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the
Spirit.
20But
you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith
and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21Keep
yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. [emphasis mine]
Verses 20-21 are great advice. Only
works if you heed it.

Want wealth, honor, and life? I read Proverbs
21 and
22
this morning and found the secret. Here it is: humility, fear of the
Lord, and the pursuit of righteousness and love. And you thought it
would be easy.
