Encouraging Words
By Suzanne Leitz |
You know, it really is important to have the
word of God in your heart, so you can be an able minister for God to those
in need. Many times people are searching for a lifeline, some ray of light
and hope in a dark world. If you have God's word residing in your heart, you
can be a life-changing help to some, and at the very least you can be a big
encouragement. Consider these Proverbs:
"A word fitly spoken and in due season is
like apples of gold in a setting of silver." (Proverbs 25:11)
"Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down,
but an encouraging word makes it glad." (Proverbs 12:25)
"A man has joy in making an apt answer, and
a word spoken at the right moment, how good it is!" (Proverbs 15:23)
"A gentle tongue (with its healing power)
is like a tree of life." (Proverbs 15:4)
"There are those who speak rashly like the
piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." (Proverbs
12:18)
There are those of us who so want to be
used of God ("Use me, Lord!"), but we think we have to be some
super-spiritual giant before God can use us. Wrong! If you want to be used
of God, begin diligently putting His Word into your heart by daily reading
it and meditating upon it (thinking about it during the day). God will
surely make a way to use you to bring blessings on the discouraged and
broken-hearted. I pray, as in Isaiah 50:4, that the Lord has given me the
tongue of those who are taught, that I should know how to speak a word in
season to him who is weary. But I need to be prepared, and I need to be
obedient when I feel prompted to share a word with someone. Then I will be
truly blessed, as will the receiver of the word fitly spoken.
