Something happened this morning you may not be
aware of: God's mercy was renewed toward you.
That's good news! Lamentations 3:22-23
says that His compassions fail not; great is His faithfulness! Webster defines
faithful as "steadfast in keeping promises; dependable." God is
steadfast and dependable. What He's said He will do, He WILL do.
How do you know God has shown mercy toward you?
Are you breathing? If so, you know you've experienced His mercy. God's mercy
is His kindness and favor, and the Bible says it endures forever, to all
generations. His mercy is GREAT, much greater than ours. How easily we lose
our tempers with those around us! How intolerable and hard-hearted we can be
toward those who have failed! Proverbs 3:3-4 says, "Let not mercy
and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of
thine heart; So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of
God and man."
Want to find favor in the eyes of God and man?
Show the same mercy to others that God is faithful to show you every day. When
you find yourself judging another, remember the mercy God shows to you. When
someone breaks a promise they made to you, show them mercy, as God shows
toward you. Showing mercy does not mean you "wink" at sin, no; hate
evil, love people.
I'm glad God's mercy is not renewed weekly;
some of us would use up the whole week's share by the end of the first day.
No, God renews His mercy toward us day by day. Great is His faithfulness!
