Praying the Word
By Suzanne Leitz |
Praying the Word of God over yourself and
others is powerful and brings results. 1
John 5:14-15 agrees:
"Now this is the confidence that we have
in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And
if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we have asked of Him." So if we ask anything
according to the will of God--and His Word is certainly His will--then
we can have what we ask. Therefore, in praying for yourself to grow
spiritually, for example, you might pray like this:
"Father, according to Ephesians
1:16-23, You have given me the spirit of wisdom and revelation of Jesus
Christ. I thank You that the eyes of my understanding are being enlightened to
know the hope of Your calling and the riches of the glory of Your inheritance
in the saints. You are revealing to me the exceeding greatness of Your power,
according to the working of Your mighty power, which raised Christ from the
dead and set Him at Your right hand.
"According to Ephesians
3:14-20, grant me according to the riches of Your glory to be strengthened
with might by Your Spirit in my inner man. That Christ may dwell in my heart
by faith; that I being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend
with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height; and to
know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that I might be filled
with all the fullness of God. I praise You, Lord, that You are able to do
exceeding abundantly above all that I ask or think, according to the power
that works in me.
"According to Colossians
1:9-11, I pray that You'll fill me with the knowledge of Your will in all
wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I might walk worthy of You unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge
of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, unto
all patience and long suffering with joyfulness.
"Unto You, Lord, be glory in the Church by
Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." These are
things Paul prayed for those who were under his spiritual charge. Therefore,
we know this is the will of God in our lives too, and we can pray with
confidence and in full assurance of positive results.
